As Johnson & Wales began its foray into NCAA hockey competition, Tory Jacob almost immediately set the standards of excellence for every forward who was to follow. The institution’s all-time leading scorer in NCAA competition, he scored 51 goals and 118 assists for 169 career points in 97 games. A captain on both his junior and senior year teams, he helped lead the Wildcats to three consecutive Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Northeast playoff berths. Ten of his 50 career goals were game-winners. After registering 34 assists in his freshman year, he duplicated that feat as a sophomore, ranking him alone at the top of the team’s single-season assist list. He recorded five assists in a single game on two separate occasions, an achievement unmatched in the team’s first decade. In 2001, he was named to the NEHC Northeast Second Team.
