From 1988 to 1991, Jeff Greenip established the benchmarks that future Wildcat hockey players would seek to eclipse. Starting in 1988 with the club team that simply played for love of the game, Greenip would, as a senior, become the first Johnson & Wales player to score fifty goals in a season. He led the 1991 team to the American Collegiate Hockey Association national club hockey championships in Chicago. Hired by the Department of Intramurals and Athletics as a graduate assistant in the fall of 1991, Greenip assisted in the creation of eleven intercollegiate club teams - the forerunners of the NCAA teams that were started at Johnson & Wales in the mid-90's. He also coached the men’s and women’s volleyball teams from 1992 to 1994, and was an assistant ice hockey coach from 1992 to 1996.
