The first female to be inducted into the Johnson & Wales Athletics Hall of Fame, Andrea Cataldo was the first three-sport athlete in the institution’s NCAA history. A member of the cross-country team for three seasons, she played for four years on the softball and basketball teams. No one, in fact, had participated in more varsity intercollegiate events than the native of Somerville, Massachusetts, who later married one of her classmates and fellow athletes, JWU hockey captain Dave Thibeault. A three-year softball captain and a two-time captain of the basketball team, she left Johnson & Wales with several basketball records, including games played and career assists; and softball, including games played, at-bats, plate appearances, and fielding percentage. She also was an integral behind-the-scenes part of the Department of Athletics, serving as an office assistant from 1995 to 1997.
