Combining perseverance and determination with a genuine love of the game and a deadly shot from beyond the three-point line, T.J. Ciolfi eventually became the third men’s basketball player to score over 1,000 points in an NCAA career at Johnson & Wales as a senior in 2001-02. A pure shooter who had a fine career at nearby North Providence High, Ciolfi’s first season as a Wildcat was auspicious. The team’s scoring leader as a freshman in 1998-99, he racked up 638 points in his first two seasons. He finished his career with 1,038 points, a record 200 three-point field goals, and a highly-respectable three-point field goal percentage of 37.4. Despite the completion of his playing career, Ciolfi never really left the Wildcats, as he immediately started his coaching career as an assistant at JWU in 2002-03.
