With an uncanny ability to pound the strike zone or to come through with the big hit, Coventry, Rhode Island’s Dan Howard was a multi-talented part of the Johnson & Wales baseball team.  He graduated as the all-time leader in most pitching categories, including victories (22); career earned run average (2.89), innings pitched (248), complete games (17), and appearances (38).  Howard was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Pitcher of the Year in 2004 and 2005, when his ERA in both seasons ranked among the top 13 in the nation. Named All-New England in 2005, Howard struck out 261 and walked only 39 in his four seasons.  A dependable outfielder, his clutch home run in the last inning of the championship game gave JWU a share of the 2005 ECAC title.
