A pioneer of Johnson & Wales NCAA men’s basketball teams, Anthony Williams was a leader by example, whose workmanlike approach inspired those with whom he played. The Louisville, Kentucky native helped to build the programs foundation from the infancy in the old Delaney gymnasium through his senior season 1998-99, the opening year of the new Harborside Recreation Center. Named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Second Team in 1998, he became the second Johnson and Wales student-athlete to ever score 1,000 points in his NCAA career in February 1999. He finished his career as the institutions second-leading scorer with 1,161 points. Upon graduation he almost immediately began giving back to the program, as an assistant coach during JWU’s memorable first run to the GNAC Championship games in 2001-02.
