Versatility, excellence, and class marked the academic and athletic careers of Ross Wilmot at Johnson & Wales. A three-time member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Academic Team, he was also an all-league selection in both baseball and soccer. A three-sport standout at Glassboro (NJ) High, Wilmot’s impact was immediate at JWU. He was named to the 1995 GNAC All-Conference team, helping Johnson & Wales to the very first GNAC championship. The following spring, Wilmot hit .323, knocked in 25 runs, while pitching his way to the GNAC First Team. After being named to the all-conference second team in baseball in 1997, he again turned his attention to soccer the following fall, and was a GNAC Second Team selection in the midfield. An GNAC Tournament Team pick in soccer and baseball throughout his career, Wilmot’s final act came in the spring of 1998, when his prowess on the mound and at shortstop helped the Wildcat baseball team to its first conference title.
