A 2005 NCAA wrestling All-American, Ruberg was a three-time national qualifier. He won the New England Wrestling Association 174-pound championship three times; in 2002, 2004, and in 2005, when he went on to a third-place finish at the NCAA national championships. The winner of 145 out of 163 total matches during his outstanding Wildcat career, he surpassed fellow JWU Hall of Famer James Gilbert as the school’s all-time win leader. Of his 145 career victories, 45 were pins.  In 2005, his senior season, Ruberg became the first Wildcat wrestler ever to be ranked number one in the nation in his weight class.  He graduated with the all-time Johnson & Wales single-season record for victories with 46, as well as the all-time Wildcat records for takedowns in a single season (223), and in a four-year career (644).
