A major part of four of Johnson & Wales final club hockey teams, Dave Thibeault became the first player in school history to reach 100 career assists. A two-year captain during that formative period just before Johnson & Wales launched its NCAA hockey program, Thibeault finished his career with 61 goals and 110 assists, graduating in 1997 as JWU’s number-three all-time leading scorer with 171 points. After a sophomore year in which the team was 0-17-1, Thibeault joined with fellow Hall of Famer Mark Deveaux on one of the most formidable scoring lines in the nation. Thibeault scored 22 goals with 38 assists in his junior season, and had 20 goals and a record 44 assists in his senior year, as JWU finished its club hockey era as a regional power and qualified for the 1997 American Collegiate Hockey Association national championships in St. Louis.
