PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Johnson & Wales (RI) University baseball team, in conjunction with Team IMPACT, has been selected as the feature match that was "above and beyond" this year at the 2022 Annual Report to the Team IMPACT Community.

Last fall, the Wildcats came to terms with Isaiah Hazard on a lifetime contract through Team IMPACT. Since joining the program, Isaiah has attending numerous team practices and functions, an evening with the Harlem Globetrotters, and trick-or-treating on Halloween.

"Inviting Isaiah to join the JWU baseball program is the decision our program has ever made," said head coach Kevin Casey. "It has been amazing to watch the growth in both Isaiah and our student-athletes over the last couple of months. The relationships the guys are developing with Isaiah are real. We're looking forward to the day that he is able to take the field with our guys wearing our uniform. It will be truly special to watch!"

Team IMPACT, a national non-profit organization, has developed a unique multiyear program that matches children facing serious illness and disability with college athletic teams across the country. Based on a clinical model, Team IMPACT guides a symbiotic relationship between teams and children focused on socialization, empowerment, and resilience.
