Box Score The Johnson & Wales Baseball Team traveled to Babson Park, Mass. to take on the Beavers of Babson College on Wednesday afternoon. The Wildcats fell to the non-conference opponent 12-6. JWU dropped to 10-20 and Babson improved to 20-8.
Babson opened the scoring in bottom of the first inning on an RBI singled before adding five more in the bottom of the second inning. The five-run inning was headlined by a bases loaded double by Tanner Santos to drive home three runs.
JWU responded in the top of the third inning on a pair of RBI doubles. The first came from Griffin Snyder (Marietta, Ga.) plating two Wildcats before Miles Kelly (East Setauket, N.Y.)doubled home Snyder, cutting the lead to three at 6-3.
After Babson restored their six-run advantage in the bottom of the fourth frame, the Wildcats cut the lead back to three in the top of the sixth. Kelly doubled home Riley Hasson (South Portland, Me.) for the final run of the frame.
The Beavers added three runs in the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings, taking a 12-6 lead which they eventually won the game by.
The Wildcats get back on the field on Saturday when they welcome the Albertus Magnus Falcons to the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex for a doubleheader starting at 1:00pm.
