Gianni Melendez cleared the bases with a triple in the fourth for the JWU (Providence) baseball team in a 19-7 loss at Roger Williams University Tuesday evening in Conference of New England (CNE) action at Paolino Field.
Sophomore
Yedan Diaz picked up two hits and drove in a run as the Wildcats dropped to 12-24 on the season (4-12 CNE). Senior
Jack Obert, along with junior
Diego Taveras and freshman
Sam Schoenberg, each collected an RBI in a contest which got away from JWU in the fourth when the Hawks pushed across 11 runs to turn an 8-4 game into a 19-4 lead.
Redshirt sophomore
Dylan Young got the start for the Wildcats and lasted 1.2 innings, allowing seven hits and eight runs to go with three walks and two punchouts. The Hawks (16-18, 9-7 CNE) pounded out 19 hits.
