Stepanik leads Wildcats at USEF Cacchione Cup

GLADES FERRY, Conn. – The JWU (Providence) IHSA program saw three student-athletes compete at Mystic Valley Hunt Club, including junior Samantha Stepanik, who took part in the 2025 USEF Cacchione Cup.

The Top Open Equitation rider in Zone 1, Stepanik placed fourth at the event. The Feeding Hills, Massachusetts native also took fifth in Individual Open Equitation on the Flat. "This was this first time JWU had a rider in the USEF Cacchione Cup," said head coach Dirk Fogg. "Sam represented herself and the team well."

Freshman Grace Taylor, meanwhile, was sixth in Individual Open Equitation on the Flat. Junior Cadence Mirto placed fourth in Individual Intermediate Equitation over Fences.

"All our Wildcats rode well in strong competition," said Fogg. "Our team put their best foot forward in and out of the competition arena this weekend. Fellow coaches from Zone 1 institutions were complimentary of everyone's efforts."
