SEEKONK, Mass. – Behind the strength of regional qualifier
Isabelle Pacella, the JWU (Providence) IHSA program placed first at its home show Saturday at Sunflower Meadows. The Wildcats finished with 24 points, ahead of Salve Regina (22), Brown (19), Roger Williams (18), URI (17), and RIC (14).
The Wildcats claimed 1-2-3 in Open Flat as senior
Samantha Stepanik, junior
Scarlett Siskind, and sophomore
Grace Taylor finished atop the leaderboard. Taylor also claimed first in Open Fences and was named High Point Rider of the Day and now leads the region for Open Riders with 37 points – three ahead of Stepanik with 34.
Freshman
Laura Kamel and junior
Ashley Vie finished 1-2 Novice Flat while senior
Adaline Hanes placed first in Intermediate Fences with Siskind claiming third. Other third-place finishers included Pacella in Limit Flat C, freshman
Isabella Lawson in Pre-Novice Flat, and junior
Emma Palagonia in Limit Flat B. Pacella's finish made her the fourth Wildcat to qualify for regionals.
Hanes also took fourth in Intermediate Flat and freshman
Sofia Vaca was fifth in Introductory Flat.
