Hayden Brown (149 lbs.) and freshman
Ian Sutherland (174 lbs.) were crowned champion at the JWU (Providence) Wildcat Open Saturday afternoon at the Wildcat Center.

Brown recorded four pins to reach the finals, where he ran through Alex Turley (unattached) 8-0 to improve to 27-1 on the season. Sutherland, meanwhile, advanced to the finals to face freshman teammate
Zach Miller by virtue of two major decision wins and one pin. In the championship match, Sutherland defeated Miller – who recorded two tech fall and two major decision victories to advance to the finals – by decision (7-2).
Senior
Zachary Weiner placed second in the 157 lb. bracket. The Spotswood, New Jersey native won two matches by pin en route to the finals, where he was upended by Nicolas Romero (unattached) by a score of 19-3.
Sophomore
Johan Aguilar won four matches in the 133 lb. bracket and took fourth place. He opened the day with a 24-7 tech fall win and later picked up three wins by decision. Aguilar fell in the consolation finals to Lucas Torre (NJCU), 4-3.
Sophomore
Justin Smoot advanced to the semifinals of the 285 lb. bracket with a pair of major decision wins (14-3, 11-2) before bowing out with a 4-1 loss. Junior
Gabriel Case took sixth in the 165 lb. bracket and finished the day 5-2 with three of those wins coming by pin.
