Vining makes season debut for Hyannis in CCBL

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – JWU (Providence) junior Aidan Vining made his summer debut for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks of the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League this past weekend in an 11-4 win over Wareham at McKeon Park.

The two-time Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Pitcher of the Year struck out three batters in two innings of work on Saturday, August 3 as the Harbor Hawks clinched the CCBL West Division title for the first time since 2015.

"Aidan is one of the best lefties not only at the Division III level, but in the country," said JWU head coach Kevin Casey. "I'm glad that a club agreed to take a look at him, and now the CCBL has seen what all of us here at JWU have for the past few years – that he's got dominant stuff that stands up against top-notch competition."

A native of Woburn, Massachusetts, Vining is 13-6 with a 3.40 earned run average (ERA) and 194 strikeouts in 167 innings of work during his two-plus years as a member of the Wildcats.
