WENHAM, Mass. – The JWU (Providence) baseball team split its Conference of New England (CNE) doubleheader at Gordon College Saturday afternoon at JTec White Field.
Game One: Wildcats 11, Fighting Scots 9
Freshman
Dimitri Staphos laced a pair of two-run singles and senior
Jack Obert had two hits and drove in three to spark the Wildcat offense. Sophomore
Yedan Diaz also plated two runs and redshirt junior
Max Randazzo struck out eight in 5.2 innings of work to earn his third win of the season. JWU scored in each of the first four innings – including four times in both the second and third – to build an 11-3 lead. Freshman
Sam Schoenberg recorded an RBI with a sac fly and redshirt senior
Ryan Ducey finished with two hits.
Game Two: Fighting Scots 5, Wildcats 3
Junior
Jack Dwyer drove in a run with a first-inning single and Ducey recorded a pair of hits for the Wildcats (10-20, 3-9 CNE), who also scored a pair of unearned runs in the fifth. Senior
Brett Nickerson allowed eight hits and four runs to go with no walks and five strikeouts.
