Dwyer collects four hits in 13-9 win over Lasell

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior Jack Dwyer went 4-for-5 with three RBI as the JWU (Providence) baseball team rallied for five in the eighth to defeat Lasell University 13-9 Thursday afternoon in non-conference action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

The Greenville, Rhode Island native drove in a run with a single in the fifth and later plated two more in the eighth as the Wildcats (9-19) snapped a four-game losing skid. Redshirt senior Ryan Ducey also drove in two in the eighth and finished with two hits and three RBI while freshman Sam Schoenberg picked up three of JWU's 16 hits.

The Wildcats put up four runs in the second, sparked by run-scoring singles from Schoenberg and junior Diego Taveras, to help the home team grab a 4-2 lead. Lasell then went ahead 8-7 with five runs in the sixth before an RBI groundout off the bat of Ducey in the bottom of the frame tied the game at eight.

In the eighth, a two-run single from Ducey, followed by an RBI double from senior Jack Obert and Dwyer's two-run single, put the Wildcats ahead by five at 13-8. Senior Evan LaMothe – who allowed only an unearned run in the ninth – notched his first win of the season as held the Lasers to three hits over 3.1 innings. He walked one and struck out six.
