YORK, Pa. – The JWU (Providence) wrestling team saw three student-athletes crowned individual champions at the New Standard Corporate Invitational hosted by York (PA) College on Friday and Saturday.

Senior and two-time reigning national champion
Joziah Fry went 4-0 and won the 125 lb. bracket, highlighted by a pair of tech fall wins and a 9-5 decision over No. 17 Isiac Paulino of Roanoke in the finals.
Freshman
Peyton Ellis went 4-0 with three pins, including one in :23 seconds in the finals against No. 11 Jonah Paulino (Roanoke), to capture the 133 lb. crown.
Sophomore
Jake Eckerle (141 lbs.) knocked off Boburjon Berdiyorov of NEC 6-5 in the finals to cap a 5-0 afternoon and place first. He recorded three decision wins and two by major decision. The Northport, New York native – who was named Most Outstanding Wrestler – knocked off teammate and No. 3 ranked
Cameron Soda in the quarterfinals.
Sophomore
Jack Richardson (165 lbs.) fell to No. 6 David Reid (Roanoke) in the finals, 5-3, and closed the event with a 4-1 record that included a 13-5 win over No. 12 Conrad Parker (Ithaca). Junior
Adolfo Betancur (285 lbs.) also went 4-1 with a pair of pins before falling 6-5 to No. 6 Reid Garrison (USMMA) in the finals.
Soda, meanwhile, wrapped the event with a third-place finish as he picked up wins in his final four matches following his first loss of 2024-25 to Eckerle. Freshman
Jayden Lafrenaye advanced to the semifinals before being forced to default to sixth place due to an injury. He left 'The Keystone State' having posted a 3-1 record.
