BRISTOL, R.I. – Sophomore
Ryan O'Rourke placed third at 125 lbs. for the
JWU-Providence wrestling team at the Roger Williams Invitational Saturday morning at the RWU Field House.
Brackets
O'Rourke won two matches to advance to the semis at 125 lbs. before falling to nationally-ranked Gavin Bradley. He then defeated Christian Lievano (Cortland) via fall in the consolation finals.
Freshman
Vincent Faldetta went 4-2 and placed fourth at 149 lbs. He was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the 149 bracket, but bounced back to win two matches and advance to the finals of the consolation bracket.
Juniors
Zachary Weiner (149 lbs.) and
Dominic Pugliese (174 lbs.) both placed sixth in their respective weight class. Weiner finished the afternoon 5-1 as his day ended with a no-contest in the consolation semis. Pugliese, meanwhile, bounced back after a loss in his first match at 174 lbs. to win five-straight and move on to the semis of the consolation bracket, where he took a no-contest.
Graduate student
Nicholas DeSola (141 lbs.) rebounded from a first-round loss at 141 to win three matches in the consolation bracket.
Sophomore
Gabriel Case (157 lbs.) collected three wins in the consolation bracket and finished the day 3-2. Following a second-round loss at 149 lbs., senior
Edwin Morales picked up three wins before withdrawing from his final match of the day.
