Wildcats overpower Bears, 43-11

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Johnson & Wales (RI) University wrestling team knocked off Bridgewater State University 43-11 Saturday morning at Kelly Gym.

Freshman Ryan O'Rourke scored a fall win at 125 lbs. to give JWU the early lead. A pair of tech fall victories from senior Gabe McDaniel (18-1) at 149 lbs. and sophomore Gabriel Leo (16-0) at 141 lbs. extended the Wildcats lead to 16-5 a forfeit win by graduate student William Hughes (157 lbs.) and a 27-6 tech fall win by sophomore Patrick Wisniewski (165 lbs.) staked them to a 31-5 win.

Senior Bailey O'Brien won by majority decision at 174 lbs. (18-4) to make it a 31-5 lead. Sophomore Dylan Harr picked up a fall win in 3:09 at 197 lbs. and freshman Adolfo Betancur won in 3:52 at 285 lbs. to close the match.
