JWU takes down No. 22 Wis.-Eau Claire, 25-13

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Johnson & Wales (RI) University wrestling team defeated No. 22 Wisconsin-Eau Claire Blugolds 25-13 Friday night at the Wildcat Center.

Sophomore Dylan Harr scored a 4-3 win over Sam Melton at 197 lbs. At 285 lbs., freshman Adolfo Betancur earned a 2-0 decision over Jackson Schichel in the heavyweight category.

At the 125 lbs. weight class, freshman and reigning New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Rookie of the Week Harrison Gordon pinned Carter Schultz at 1:05. Classmate Joziah Fry picked up a major decision over No. 6 Tyler Fleetwood, 9-0, at 133 lbs.

Sophomore Victor Perlleshi earned a 6-4 decision in OT over Drew Jested at 141 lbs. while junior Hayden Brown pinned Markus Brown in 39 seconds at 157 lbs.
