Box Score 2 PROVIDENCE - The Johnson & Wales baseball team split their Great Northeast Athletic Conference doubleheader with Anna Maria on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats lost 6-5 in game one before using a pair of homeruns in game two to earn the 13-6 victory.

Of Note:
Starting pitcher Kyle Cutler surrendered five runs in the opening inning for JWU, one of which was earned. Cutler was able to find his groove, striking out four, before exiting in the 6th with his team trailing 6-2. In the top of the 7th, the visiting Wildcats were able to push a run across on a wild pitch before Patrick Fleming struck a two out, two-run single thru the left side. The Wildcats were unable to plate a runner from third and fell to AMC, 6-5.
In game two, a failed pickoff attempt of Raimiel Rodriguez at first moved him to third before scoring on a groundout by Joe Maracic in the opening frame. Anna Maria captured the lead with a two-run homerun in the bottom half of the 1st. After tying things at 2-2, JWU scored twice on an AMCAT error followed by the first homerun of the season for the Wildcats launched over the centerfield fence by Rodriguez moving the score to 6-2. A two-run homerun by Kevin Duffy capped off a six run 6th and helped the Wildcats secure the 13-6 win. Pawtucket native Ryan Depatie earned his second win of the young season, surrendering three earned runs in six innings pitched, scattering five hits and striking out one.
