PROVIDENCE, RI – Visiting Wesleyan University got out to a fast start against the Johnson & Wales University baseball team and never looked back. The Cardinals handed the Wildcats an 18-5 defeat on Wednesday.

Records:
Wesleyan: 8-9
Johnson & Wales: 14-5

Statistical Leaders:

Chase Pratt (WU): 3-5, 4 RBI, 1 R

Of Note:
The JWU defense did not help starting pitcher Dan Heise in the top of the first as a pair of fielding miscues led to a trio of Wesleyan runs.

Wesleyan broke the game open with seven runs in the top of the second. The Cardinals had eight straight batters reach base. Jonny Corning reached base twice in the second.

Johnson & Wales got the offense going in the middle innings, but it wasn't enough to mount a comeback. Adam Diehl delivered a triple in the fifth to score Anthony Roman then crossed the plate himself on a groundout.

Up Next:
The Wildcats host Bridgewater State at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
