Baseball Splits with Buccaneers

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. – After an offensive outburst in game one, runs were tough to come by for the Johnson &  Wales University baseball team. The Wildcats took the opener at Mass Maritime, 14-16, but dropped a 2-0 decision in the nightcap.

Of Note:
JWU picked up eight runs in the first three innings.

Tim Lombardi drove in Colby Greenhalgh with a double in the second then came around to score, along with Joe Maracic, on a Retsyn Ootton single.

Ootton cleared the bases in the fifth with a bases-loaded triple.

JWU had the bases loaded in the second inning of game two, but couldn't get the tying run across.

JWU plays its home opener Monday against crosstown rival, Rhode Island College, at 3:30 p.m.
