Box Score 2 HAVERHILL, Mass. – It took longer than the Johnson & Wales University baseball team had hoped, but the Wildcats picked up a sweep in their GNAC opener. The Wildcats beat Anna Maria 9-2 in the opener then outlasted the AMCATS 7-4 in 11 innings on Saturday.

Of Note:
JWU only had one hit in the second inning of game one but managed to score a trio of runs. Rob Ballinger was walked with the base loaded to score Tim Lombardi and Colby Greenhalgh reached on an error to plate Rich Bourdeau.
The Wildcats scored five runs in the sixth and seventh innings. Edison Mercado drove in his second run of the game with an infield single. Ballinger's single in the seventh scored pinch runner Steve Rocchio.
Senior Keith Grant threw a complete game to improve his record to a perfect 6-0. He gave up two runs on six hits with five strikeouts.
Joe Maracic broke a 2-2 tie in game two with an RBI single to score Mercado. Anna Maria rallied for a run in the bottom of the seventh off JWU starter James Smiegocki to force extra innings.
Raimiel Rodriguez's triple in the top of the 10th scored Anthony Roman, but the AMCAT answered again with a Danny Grammel sac fly. Rodriguez came through again in the top off the 11th, ripping a two-run single to score Vin Amalfinato and Rocchio.
