Box Score 2 PROVIDENCE, RI – Needing at least one win to secure a home game for next week's GNAC tournament, the Johnson & Wales University baseball team won twice on Saturday. The Wildcats rallied to defeat Norwich, 7-6, in the opener then took game two, 15-2.

JWU has wrapped up the three seed for the GNAC Tournament. The Wildcats will face Anna Maria on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Drew Caldwell and Jake Godbee produced RBI singles in the first inning to get the Cadets out to a 2-0 lead. Colby Greenhalgh had an RBI single in the bottom of the first and Raimiel Rodriguez drove in Rob Ballinger with a double in the third to tie the game.
A two-out error in the sixth inning allowed Norwich to get a trio of runs. Kevin Lynch had a two-run single.
JWU responded by scoring five times in the bottom of the inning. Rodriguez drove in a pair with his third double of the game then scored along with Vin Amalfitano on a Greenhalgh double.
That made a winner out of senior Keith Grant who went the distance to pick up his league-leading eighth victory. He gave up six runs, but only one earned, with seven strikeouts. Luke Johansen was saddled with the loss.
Johnson & Wales got all the runs it would need in game two in the first inning. The Wildcats sent 15 batters to the plate as they scored nine runs. Greenhalgh had a sacrifice fly and RBI single in the inning. Eight of the nine starters had at least one hit with 11 different Wildcats collecting a base knock.
JWU starter James Smiegocki threw four scoreless innings to get the win. He only allowed three hits with five strikeouts.
