NASHUA, NH – Two strong pitching performances gave the Johnson & Wales University baseball team a sweep of Saturday's doubleheader at Rivier. The Wildcats took game one, 6-1, then won the nightcap, 4-2.

Of Note:
The game-two victory gave the Wildcats their eighth-straight 20-win season and the 16^th under head coach John LaRose.

Senior Rich Marshall almost threw JWU's first no-hitter in 17 years. The Raiders' Jorge Martinez got a one-out single in the seventh to break up the no-hit bid. Marshall gave up one run on the lone hit with a career-high 15 strikeouts.

Chris Husenica's no-hitter against Emerson on April 8, 2001 remains the only one in program history.

Marshall got all the run support he'd need in the first inning. Colby Greenhalgh delivered an RBI single to score Vin Amalfitano then Tim Lombardi followed with a single to plate Raimiel Rodriguez. Greenhalgh and Lombardi added RBI singles in the fifth.

JWU had to rally in game two to get the sweep. Trailing 2-1 in the sixth, Lombardi delivered a double to left field that plated Greenhalgh. Kevin Duffy's single scored Lombardi with the eventual winning run.

Those runs made a winner out of pitcher Kyle Cutler for the first time in his collegiate career. He gave up two runs on five hits with six strikeouts.
