Baseball Drops Doubleheader at Suffolk

EAST BOSTON, Mass. – The Suffolk pitching staff had the Johnson & Wales University batters on their heels all afternoon. The Rams limited the Wildcats to six hits as they defeated JWU 5-0 in the opener and 4-2 in the nightcap.

Of Note:
Game two starter James Smiegocki fell behind in the first inning when he gave up four runs. JWU cut the lead in half in the fifth inning.

Vin Amalfitano got a two-out single then Rob Ballinger reached on an error. Designated hitter Colby Greenhalgh delivered a single to score both Amalfitano and Ballinger.

The Wildcats didn't have a base runner until the fifth inning of game one when Edison Mercado led off with a single. An inning later, Amalfitano was hit by a pinch and moved up to second, but the Wildcats could not get him home.

Johnson & Wales is back at home on Sunday for a 12 p.m. doubleheader against Lasell.
