Box Score BOSTON – Two runs in the top of the eighth inning gave the Johnson & Wales University baseball team a victory over Wentworth in a back-and-forth contest. The Wildcats defeated the Leopards, 9-8, on Thursday.

Of Note:
A four-run fourth inning, highlighted by a Vin Amalfitano two-run double, got the Wildcats out to a 5-2 lead. The Leopards tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the inning then added two in the sixth off starter James Smiegocki.
Johnson & Wales scored the tying and winning runs in the seventh and eighth innings with only one hit. Raimiel Rodriguez –one of three Wildcats with a pair of hits - doubled with one out in the seventh, stole third then scored on an Edison Mercado ground out.
In the eighth, Rich Bourdeau and Steve Rocchio drew walks. They pulled off a double steal then scored on a throwing error by Wentworth shortstop Cole Fritz.
Josh Mousseau got the Wildcats out of a sixth-inning jam then worked the final three innings to get his first win of the year. He gave up one run on four hits with three strikeouts.
