Box Score PROVIDENCE, RI – Timely hitting and a bend, but don't break pitching performance from James Smiegocki gave the Johnson & Wales University baseball team its fourth win in a row. The Wildcats defeated the Coast Guard Academy, 6-1, on Friday.

JWU scored a run in the second inning then produced two in the fifth. Raimiel Rodriguez plated Rob Ballinger with an RBI single then scored all the way from first on Edison Mercado's double.
Then in the fifth, JWU tacked on two more runs. A triple from catcher Colby Greenhalgh scored Tim Lombardi. Steve Rocchio's squeeze bunt allowed Greenhalgh to score. Greenhalgh and Lombardi led the way with a trio of hits.
The Bears were able to get on base against Johnson & Wales starter Smiegocki, but he only surrendered one run with eight strikeouts to pick up his second win of the year.
Leading Coast Guard with a trio of hits was Luke Thompson. Trey Rittenhouse drove in Reed Jenkins with a single in the seventh.
