PROVIDENCE, RI – Thirteen runs in the sixth and seventh innings broke open a close contest between crosstown rivals Johnson & Wales University and Rhode Island College. The Wildcats sunk the Anchormen, 17-6, on Monday.

Of Note:
JWU jumped out to an early lead with three runs in the first inning. Tim Lombardi's single to shallow center field scored Raimiel Rodriguez and Vin Amalfitano.

The Anchormen tied the game with two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth. Shaun Vigeant had an RBI single in the fifth to score Tyler Walsh. Walsh scored again in the sixth on a Vigeant infield single.

JWU broke the game open with five runs in the bottom of the sixth. Aidan Hagarty led off with a solo home run to right field.  An error on Rich Bourdeau's grounder prolonged the inning. Rob Ballinger followed with a two-run triple down the right field line then scored on an Amalfitano single.

Six different Wildcats had two or more hits, led by Ballinger, Amalfitano and Joe Maracic with three each. RIC's Tyler Walsh led all players with four hits.

Wildcat starter Keith Grant worked six innings to improve to 4-0 on the year. He ran his scoreless inning streak to 24 before giving up the two runs in fifth.
