Former Wrestler McCrohan Competes In MMA Bout Friday

PROVIDENCE, RI -- On Friday, August 12, former Johnson & Wales University standout wrestler, now undefeated middleweight MMA prospect Pat McCrohan looks to make it 3-0 versus Ruslan Melikov, at CES MMA 37. 

When asked about the fight, McCrohan simply states , "I want to get a knockout -- a nice, clean knockout."

McCrohan finished his JWU career as one of the program's top wrestlers with a 53-37 mark. A 2010 graduate, he earned a pair of al-conference honors and was a 2010 Second-Team All-Pilgrim League selection. McCrohan is a member of the JWU :30 pin club, taking down Matthew Bubar of Southern Maine in 29 seconds.

A trio of titles are up for grabs at CES MMA 37 which airs on AXS TV from Twin River Casino in Lincoln, R.I. In the Main Event, reigning bantamweight champion Andre Soukhamthath rematches challenger Kin Moy. The fighters first met in January 2014, when Moy earned a unanimous-decision victory.

In the co-main event, Bellator vet Matt Bessette battles submission specialist Stephen Cervantes for the vacant featherweight title. In the other co-main event, Greg Rebello clashes with Ashley Gooch for the vacant heavyweight belt ; both fighters have combined 18 knockouts in 29 career wins.
