standout Brennan Ward
(Waterbury, Conn.) notched a second place finish at the
184 pound weight class at the 2010 NCAA Division III Wrestling
Championship on Saturday evening. Ward dropped a 7-4 decision
against Phil Moenkedick of Concordia in the championship match.
Ward became the seventh All-American in the history of the JWU
wrestling program.
Ward reached the championship after pinning fourth seeded Gabe
Youel of North Central College in the semifinals earlier in the
day. Ward, seeded eighth, had previously pinned the tournament's
top seed, Tyler Burkle of Coe College, in the quarterfinals to
reach the semifinal.
In addition to Ward, freshman Colin Lenhardt
(Hayes,Va.) also competed for the Wildcats and helped the
squad to an 18th overall finish at the NCAA Championship.
