PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Former JWU (Providence) men's lacrosse goalkeeper
Chris April will participate in the 2024 New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) East-West Senior All-Star Game this Friday, June 7 at Bayside Field on the campus of Roger Williams University.
April posted a 9-7 record with a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC)-best 9.19 goals against average (GAA) this past season. A native of Mansfield, Massachusetts, April finished fourth in wins and fifth in minutes (907:41) in the conference, and backstopped the Wildcats to the playoffs for the 10th consecutive season. April stopped a career-high 25 shots in a win against Gordon on March 13 and tallied 16 stops against both Anna Maria (March 23) and Southern Maine (March 30).
A two-time GNAC All-Academic Team pick, April closed his career No. 2 in games played (44), t-No. 2 in wins (17), No. 3 in minutes (1951:35), No. 3 in saves (387), No. 3 in save pct. (.559), No. 3 in GAA (9.38), and No. 4 in games started (25) in program history.
Forty-six student-athletes across Divisions I, II, and III will compete in this year's All-Star Game, including eight from the GNAC. "This is a great opportunity to highlight the college careers of these young men," said Wildcats head coach
Tim Murphy, who also serves as the president of NEILA and coordinator of the East-West All-Star team selection. "For many, it is one last time for them to play an organized game against such high competition. It is also a chance to compete with players you may have battled against throughout your college career."
