DiBeneditto, Glyman highlight GNAC Women's Lax All-Conference picks

WINTHROP, Mass. – Senior Maris DiBeneditto and junior Emma Glyman have been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Lacrosse Attacker and Goaltender of the Year, respectively, and headline the list of six JWU (Providence) student-athletes to earn all-conference honors.

DiBeneditto leads the Wildcats and finished fifth in the conference with 59 goals – 41 of which came against GNAC foes, which was No. 3 in the league. The Southbury, Connecticut native – who was also named to First Team – collected 54 of her 77 points in GNAC play, which was the sixth-highest total, and notched nine points in three conference tournament games, highlighted by a five-point effort (1-4-5) against St. Joseph's (CT) in the semifinals on April 30. DiBeneditto scored a season-high six goals on two occasions: NEC (March 9) and Dean (April 23).

The 2022 GNAC Goaltender and a 2024 GNAC First Team pick, Glyman led the conference in both wins (15) and goals against average (GAA) (7.20), and finished third in saves (148) and save pct. (.523). In conference play, the Tolland, Connecticut native was tops in GAA (4.74) and save pct. (.680), and her 10 GNAC wins was No. 2. Glyman posted a stellar 7.33 GAA and a 57.9 save pct. in three conference tournament wins. She tallied a season-high 19 saves in a win at Simmons on April 20.

The duo was joined on the First Team by junior Madeleine Gould, who led the GNAC with 98 points on 58 goals (tied for No. 6) and 40 assists (No. 3). In GNAC play, the Oakdale, Connecticut native racked up 64 points (38-26-64), which was the second-highest mark. Gould also registered 59 draw controls, which was No. 8 in conference play, and enters this weekend's NCAA Tournament contest with York (PA) with 12 hat tricks, highlighted by six-goal efforts against Lasell (March 26) and Albertus Magnus (April 16). She scored three goals in Sunday's 14-4 win at Emmanuel (MA) in the GNAC Championship.

Senior Katie Sloan – who was named GNAC Tournament MVP this past weekend – was named to the Second Team, along with sophomore Izzy Babb. Sloan has 36 goals and 47 points in 18 games, 12 of which were accumulated during the conference tournament (11-1-12). The Elliott City, Maryland native tied her season-high for goals with five in Sunday's win over the Saints and enters this weekend with 55 ground balls and 27 caused turnovers, both of which are second on JWU.

Babb, meanwhile, finished second on the Wildcats in assists (31) and third in points (63). The Windham, Maine native picked up a career-high seven points (3-4-7) in a win over the Sharks and notched 11 points (4-7-11) in the GNAC Tournament, highlighted by a four-assist effort in the championship.

Freshman Alexa Pizzulli was named to the Sportsmanship Team after compiling 10 ground balls, three goals, two caused turnovers, and one assists in 18 games (10 starts). She scored a pair of goals in a win over the Monks on April 18 and recorded three ground balls and her first collegiate assist against the Pilgrims.

The Wildcats (15-4) carry a seven-game win streak into Saturday's contest against the Spartans at Wesleyan (CT) in Middletown, Connecticut at 1 p.m.
