Wildcats defeat WNE for seventh win in last eight outings

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – First-year student-athletes Cassie Burke and Riley Shepley each scored three goals to lift the JWU (Providence) women's lacrosse team to a 12-9 win over Western New England University Tuesday afternoon in Conference of New England (CNE) action at Golden Bear Stadium.

Classmate Sidney Mayers added two goals and an assist while sophomore Kelsey Higgins also netted two goals. The win moves the Wildcats to 6-3 in conference play (8-6 overall) and gives them the inside track to host a quarterfinal matchup later this month.

First-year's Addison Stratton and Rhya Saloom each found the back of the net for a JWU team which outshot the Golden Bears 33-23. Senior netminder Kylie O'Keefe turned aside seven shots to lift her record to a perfect 5-0 on the season.

First-year Keira Donegan won a team-high five draw controls while senior Fara Holland notched three ground balls and caused two turnovers.
