ASHAWAY, R.I. – The JWU IHSA program earned Reserve Champion status on Saturday at the JWU Competition at Hunter Ridge.
The Wildcats closed the day with 25 points, which earned them a share-of second place with Rhode Island College. Brown captured first with 33 points while URI (23) and Roger Williams (20) rounded out the field.
"I am pleased with how the JWU IHSA Wildcats preformed today," said head coach
Dirk Fogg. "They showed good results in what looks to be a very competitive conference this year. The blend of veteran and freshman athletes will allow our team to develop our riders and focus on competitive results."
Junior and co-captain
Samantha Stepanik captured first-place in Class 8 Open Hunter Seat Equitation over Fences, and also took fourth in Class 7 Open Hunter Seat Equitation on the Flat.
Sophomore
Scarlett Siskind took second in Class 5 Intermediate Hunter Seat Equitation on the Flat and third in Class 6 Intermediate Hunter Seat Equitation over Fences.
Junior
Adaline Hanes finished second in Class 3 Limit Hunter Seat Equitation on the Flat while freshman
Kate Scherer took third. Freshman
Annika Ormsby placed second in Class 2B Novice Hunter Seat Equitation on the Flat.

Caitlin Talbot snared third in Class 1 Introductory Hunter Seat Equitation on the Flat to help secure Reserve Champion status. Freshman
Grace Taylor took third in Class 7 Open Hunter Seat Equitation on the Flat and fourth in Class 8 Open Hunter Seat Equitation over Fences.
