ASHAWAY, R.I. – The JWU (Providence) IHSA program placed fourth at the University of Rhode Island (morning competition) on Saturday, March 1 at Hunter Ridge. URI placed first with 41 points, followed by Salve Regina (23), Rhode Island College (20) and the Wildcats (19).
Isabelle Pacella placed first in Class 3 Limit Hunter Seat Equitation on the Flat while
Tori Stedman and
Kate Scherer shared second. Stedman also finished second in Class 4 Limit Hunter Sat Equitation over Fences.
Annika Ormsby took first in Class 2B Novice Hunter Seat Equitation on the Flat, ahead of teammate
Jillian Gauch, who was third. Fourth-place finishers included
Grace Taylor (Class 8 Open Hunter Seat Equitation over Fences),
Samantha Stepanik (Class 7 Open Hunter Seat Equitation on the Flat), and
Caitlin Talbot (Class 1 Introductory Hunter Seat Equitation on the Flat).
"The morning competition of our doubleheader was a challenge. While we lost ground in the early classes, the later riders fought hard and earned some good results," said head coach
Dirk Fogg. "The highlight of the show was
Tori Stedman earning the Reserve High Point Rider for the competition."
