WARREN, R.I. – The JWU (Providence) IHSA program was named Champion Team at the Brown University Show on Saturday at Windswept Farm. The Wildcats earned a share of first-place with URI as each team finished with 33 points.
Sophomore
Scarlett Siskind recorded a pair of first-place finishes in Class 6 Intermediate Hunter Seat Equitation over Fences and Class 5 Intermediate Hunter Seat Equitation on the Flat. Junior
Samantha Stepanik finished first in Class 7 Open Hunter Seat Equitation on the Flat and second in Class 8 Open Hunter Seat Equitation over Fences. Sophomore
Ashley Vie earned JWU's fourth first-place finish I Class 2B Novice Hunter Seat Equitation on the Flat.
Third-place finishers for the Wildcats included Katherine Scherer I Class 4 Limit Hunter Sat Equitation over Fences,
Jillian Gauch in Class 2B Novice Hunter Seat Equitation on the Flat, and both
Emma Palagonia and
Isabelle Pacella in Class 3 Limit Hunter Seat Equitation on the Flat.
"This is the second week we have tied with URI for Championship Team," said head coach
Dirk Fogg. "The additional highlight of the day was
Scarlett Siskind's two first-place results, earning her Reserve Hight Point Rider for the day. Additional first-place results were earned by
Ashley Vie and
Samantha Stepanik. Sam also picked up a second-place finish in the Open over fences. A slew of thirds by Kate Sherer,
Emma Palagonia,
Isabelle Pacella, and
Jillian Gauch help secure the team's results. Midway through the fall season, the team is really gelling. We are excited for the upcoming competitions."
Rhode Island College was third with 23 points, followed by Roger Williams and Salve with 22 points each, and Brown with 21.
