Bears Defeat Wildcats, 16-13

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Normally, the Johnson & Wales University women's lacrosse team is piling up the goals. On Tuesday, the roles were reversed as the Wildcats dropped a 16-13 decision to Bridgewater State University.

BSU: Hayley Barner (W 5-1) 13 Saves, 13 Goals
JWU: Cassidy O'Hara (L 6-1) 8 Saves, 16 Goals

BSU: Victoria McDonough 3 Goals, 4 Assists


Of Note:
It's the Wildcats' first home loss since a 13-12 defeat against Westfield State on March 23, 2017, snapping a streak of 21-straight wins.

The Bears scored the first two goals of the game before Dani Lydecker got JWU on the board with a goal at the 3:13 mark. 

Bridgewater State scored four more times before Marley Medina and Allison Pazienski found the back of the net to cut the margin to 6-3. The Bears went into the locker room with an 11-5 lead. 

Goals by Haley White and Victoria McDonough midway through the second half staked BSU to a 15-9 lead that it would not surrender. 

JWU outscored Bridgewater State, 4-1 in the final 10 minutes, including a pair of goals from Julianna Giello.

Up Next:

The Wildcats will travel to conference foe Lasell on Saturday for a 3 p.m. start.
