Women's Ice Hockey Falls 5-1 at Plymouth State

PLYMOUTH, NH – Two goals in the second and third periods gave host Plymouth State University a victory over the Johnson & Wales University women's ice hockey team. The Wildcats lost 5-1 to the Panthers on Tuesday.

The loss dropped JWU to 7-10-1 while Plymouth State improved 7-9-2.

The Wildcats spotted the Panthers a three-goal lead with one score in the first period and two in the second. JWU got on the board with less than two minutes left in the second stanza when Kathy Ensor (St. Louis, Mo.) found the back of the net. It's her second short-handed goal in a row.

Plymouth State answered with a goal midway through the third period as well as a power play goal with 2:29 remaining in the game.

Johnson & Wales had a 31-30 advantage in shots, but PSU goaltender Emelie Lindqvist made 30 saves for the victory. Wildcats netminder Kami Weiner (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) stopped 25 shots. JWU could not convert any of its four power plays while the Panthers were 2-of-4 with the extra skater.

Johnson & Wales is back on the road Saturday for a 5 p.m. contest at Salem State.
