Haslinger named GNAC Athlete & Rookie of the Year; 14 garner all-conference honors

WINTHROP, Mass. – Sophomore Lulani Haslinger has been named the 2025 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Outdoor Track Athlete & Rookie of the Year. The JWU coaching staff – led by head coach Ben Finnigan and assistant Edward Harvey – has been named Coaching Staff of the Year while 14 student-athletes garnered All-Conference honors.

Haslinger earned all-conference accolades in six different events at the GNAC Championship, which was held on April 27-28 at St. Joseph's (ME) in Standish, Maine. The Groton, New York native was recognized for her first-place performances in the 1,500m run (5:06.34), 5,000m run (18:52.25), 3,000m steeplechase (12:20.70), as well as the 10,000m run (39:36.78), 800m run (2:32.17), and as a member of the 4x800m relay team (10:38.21).

Freshman Ayevah Marinez was recognized for three events: 100m (13.00), 200m (26.59), and the 4x400m (4:24.03).

Other all-conference performers for the Wildcats included:
  • Freshman Melissa Charles for a first-place finish in the pole vault (2.60m) and a third-place finish in the 4x400m relay (4:24.03)
  • Sophomore Erika Sanders for a first-place finish in the shot put (10.87m)
  • Sophomore Lena Nicholson finishing first in the discus (30.72m) and second in the hammer (37.89m)
  • Sophomore Samantha Miller for a second-place finish in the pole vault (2.45m)
  • Junior Katelyn O'Brien for a second-place finish in the javelin (36.44m)
  • Sophomore Olivia Weldin for a second-place finish in the high jump (1.46m)
  • Freshman Molly McCarthy for a third-place finish in the hammer throw (36.88m)
  • Freshman Riley Veits for a third-place finish in the pole vault (2.30m)
  • Freshman Caroline Carter for a third-place finish in the 10,000m (41:20.68) and a third-place finish in the 4x800m relay (10:38.21)
  • Sophomore Piper-Jean Ferguson for a third-place finish in the 4x800m relay (10:38.21)
  • Sophomore Fallon Preble for a third-place finish in the 4x800m relay (10:38.21)
  • Sophomore Catherine Migre for a third-place finish in the 4x400m relay (4:24.03) and a third-place finish in the 4x800m relay (10:38.21)
