Track & Field heads to Smithfield for Ocean State Cup

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The JWU (Providence) women's track & field team took part in the Ocean State Cup on Friday, April 4 at Bryant University.

Highlights from the Ocean State Cup included:

Sophomore Lulani Haslinger won the 3000m steeplechase (11:51.96) and finished 14th in the 800m (2:27.49)
Freshman Ayevah Marinez took eighth in the 100m dash (13.18), followed by freshman Melissa Charles (13.43), sophomore Fallon Preble (13.54), and sophomore Catherine Migre (13.63) in 10th-12th place, respectively
Charles took ninth in the pole vault (2.87m) while Marinez was 17th in the 200m dash (26.96)
Sophomore Valenah Mahabal was seventh in the high jump (1.37m)
Sophomore Erika Sanders finished ninth in the discus (35.23m) and 10th in the shot put (9.43m)
Junior Katelyn O'Brien placed sixth in the javelin (37.01m) and 16th in the long jump (4.67m)
Freshman Molly McCarthy grabbed 18th in the hammer throw (37.43m)
