JWU competes at Silfen Invitational

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The JWU (Providence) track & field team competed at the Silfen Invitational this past weekend on the campus of Connecticut College.

Results: JWU / Complete

Highlights from the meet included:

Sophomore Lulani Haslinger finished second in the 1500m (4:58.55) and seventh in the 3000m steeplechase (11:41.04)
Sophomore Erika Sanders grabbed third in the discus (33.10m) and sixth in the hammer (36.37m)
Freshman Molly McCarthy was eighth in the hammer (35.28m), followed by classmate De'naya Williams in 12th place (31.84m), sophomore Lena Nicholson in 20th place (28.59m), and sophomore Abigail Rendock in 21st place (28.19m)
Junior Katelyn O'Brien finished fourth in the javelin (32.34m), sixth in the long jump (4.50m), and ninth in the shot put (9.13m)
Freshman Valenah Mahabal took eighth in the high jump (1.31m)
Freshman Melissa Charles placed ninth in the 100m dash (13.30) while classmate Fallon Preble was 18th (13.66). Preble was also 18th in the 200m dash (28.00) to lead all JWU runners while Charles placed 19th (28.19)
Charles (2.80m), along with freshman Riley Veits (2.35m) and sophomore Samantha Miller (2.35m), all finished in the top eight in pole vault
Freshman Ayevah Marinez took 12th in the 400m dash (1:04.08)
Freshman Caroline Carter completed the 10,000m run in 40:33.09 – good for 12th place
Sophomore Catherine Migre placed 13th in the 400m hurdles (1:17.63)
