Freshman guard Jarell Lawson (Providence, R.I.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for the week of December 15th, announced by the conference office on Monday.
Lawson averaged 15.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.3 steals in a 2-1 week for the Wildcats, including a second-place finish at the JWU Cup. He tallied 20 points and added five boards in the team's win over intra-state rival Rhode Island College, then was also in double-figures in both games of the JWU Cup, scoring 12 points in the opener against JWU North Miami before notching 14 points with four boards and two assists in the title game against JWU Charlotte.
The Wildcats are 7-3 on the year and will return to action on Tuesday, January 6th when they travel to Lasell for a GNAC contest starting at 7:00 p.m.
