PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior and reigning Conference of New England (CNE) Player of the Week
Alvin Baez scored 25 points for the JWU (Providence) men's basketball team in a 75-65 loss to Wentworth Wednesday night in CNE action at the Wildcat Center.
Baez also snared 12 rebounds to go with four dimes and three steals in 40 minutes of action for the Wildcats (3-19, 2-11 CNE), who shot 45 percent from the field and 6-of-19 from downtown (32 pct.).
Sophomore
Azariah Harrison also played all 40 minutes and filled the stat sheet with 18 points, eight boards, three assists and two steals. Graduate student
Silas Sawtelle added 10 points while freshman
De'Angelo Owens scored six points and pulled down five rebounds.
The Wildcats opened up an early 16-6 lead behind eight from Baez and six from Harrison, including a four-point play. The Leopards closed the half on a 35-16 run to take a nine-point lead into the half (41-32).
JWU pulled even at 50 less than eight minutes into the second half before the visitors ripped off 18-6 run to open up a 68-56 lead with 6:14 on the clock.
