Softball sees three named to NFCA All-Region Teams

WINTHROP, Mass. – JWU (Providence) alumni Mackenzie Clee and Katie Scheid, along with Mady Lyons, have been named to the 2025 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region Teams. Clee was named to the First Team (OF) while Lyons (DP/UT) earned a spot on the Second Team and Scheid (P) garnered a spot on the Third Team.

The 2025 GNAC Player of the Year and First Team honoree, Clee led the conference in runs (50) and was third in on-base pct. (.490), tied for third in hits (55), fourth in average (.433), tied for ninth in stolen bases (12), and tied for 10th in walks (18). The Warminster, Pennsylvania native hit safely in 34 of the team's 41 games, including 14 multi-hit efforts. Clee ripped off a 13-game hitting streak from March 20 through April 9, batting .479 during that span (23-of-48). She propelled the Wildcats into the NCAA Tournament with a complete-game shutout in game three of the GNAC Championship series against USJ on Mother's Day.

Lyons – who was named to the GNAC Second Team in 2025 – led the GNAC in hits (60), home runs (13), RBI (54), and slugging pct. (.790), tied for third in doubles (14), and placed sixth in average (.420). The Prior Lake, Minnesota drove in two-or-more runs in 13 games, including a season-high six against the Pride in the GNAC Tournament on May 1 and five against Framingham State on April 17. Lyons smacked two home runs on three occasions and notched two-or-more hits 19 times, including a 3-for-3 effort against the Blue Jays in game three of the conference championship series on May 11. Her three-run home run in the fifth against USJ gave the Wildcats a 5-0 lead and propelled them to their second conference crown in four years.

A GNAC First Team pick in 2024 and 2025, Scheid entered the NCAA Tournament leading the conference in wins (14), earned run average (ERA) (2.38), and complete games (17). The Hightstown, New Jersey native closed the campaign No. 2 in innings pitched (132.0), and sixth in strikeouts (75), and graduated No. 2 all-time in wins (48), No. 4 in IP (439.0), No. 5 in punchouts (251), and No. 8 in ERA (3.32) at JWU. Scheid allowed two runs or less in 14 starts this season and wrapped the regular season winning 10 of her last 11 starts.

The Wildcats finished year one under first-year head coach Laura Leonetti with a 29-17 mark – the fourth-highest win total in program history.
