Softball season ends in NCAA Tournament with loss to Chapman

<strong>MCMINVILLE, Ore.</strong> – The JWU (Providence) softball team wrapped year one under head coach Laura Leonetti with a 5-0 loss to Chapman University Friday afternoon at the NCAA Division III Softball Tournament at Del Smith Stadium.<br /> <br /> Senior <strong>Mackenzie Clee</strong>, junior <strong>Jadyn Torres</strong>, and sophomore <strong>Macy Pagano</strong> each hit safely for the Wildcats, who finished the 2025 campaign with a 29-17 record. Junior <strong>Jillian Reed</strong> worked six innings and allowed eight hits and five runs (three earned) in six innings of work.<br /> <br /> The Panthers pushed across one in the top of the fourth to grab a 1-0 lead. JWU left the bases loaded in the bottom half of the inning and the visitors capitalized on an error to tack on two in the fifth to stretch its lead to 3-0.<br /> <br /> The Wildcats stranded two runners in their half of the sixth and Chapman expanded its lead to 5-0 with two runs in the seventh. Clee reached base in the JWU half of the frame before the final out was recorded.<br />
