PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior
Aidan Vining tossed a complete-game one-hitter to send the JWU (Providence) baseball team to an 11-0 win over St. Joseph's (ME) Sunday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.
The Woburn, Massachusetts native and two-time GNAC Pitcher of the Year fanned 12 in just seven innings of work to improve to 3-0 on the season and give the Wildcats their ninth win in 10 games. Senior
Trevor Juan continued to rake since rejoining the lineup against Marietta on March 13, going 3-for-5 with a two-run double and a two-run walk-off jack in the seventh.
Senior
Xavier Botelho drove in the only run JWU would need in the second with a single to right that plated Juan. Juan's RBI double in the third made it 3-0 before a run-scoring single by senior
Owen Davis pushed the lead to four.
In the sixth, Davis brought in two more with a single to center which give JWU a 6-0 lead. A five-run seventh was highlighted by a two-run double off the bat of freshman
Jeff Valdez Jimenez and Juan's third round tripper of the season.
